About Pramod Madhwaraj

His focus on development and proven ability to deliver results have made him one of Karnataka’s most popular leaders.

Pramod Madhwaraj was born on 17 October 1968 in Udupi, in a small town in coastal Karnataka. He belongs to the ‘other backward class, which is among the marginalized sections of society.

  • Pramod Madhwaraj was the first fisherman to become fisheries minister in Karnataka
He comes from a family of eminent politicians. His father, Late Shri Malpe Madhwaraj, a legendary leader of the fishermen community and a seasoned politician was MLA of Udupi taluk in 1962.

He served as Vice President of NSUI, Dakshina Kannada District, Secretary of Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, Karnataka, President of Udupi Block Congress Committee, and MLA of Udupi Assembly Constituency 2013 to 2018.
  • In November 2015, he was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary of the Revenue Department.
  • In June 2016, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka and Udupi District in-charge Minister
  • Joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 7th May 2022, in the presence of BJP Leaders in Bangalore .

Entry to BJP(Navarambha)

Pramod Madhwaraj joining BJP on May 07, 2022 changed the dynamics of Political landscape in Udupi District. His exit meant complete collapse of Indian National Congress in Udupi as there is no other leader who can connect with people and carry charisma of Pramod Madhwaraj.

Party Development Programs
By joining BJP, Pramod Madhwaraj bought huge strength to party. He worked hand in hand with with BJP karyakarthas as common party worker conducting many party development programs.
Assembly Elections in 2023
During the Assembly Elections in 2023 he continuously indulged in campaigning and party development activities in 13 constituencies helping BJP gain votes. With his sheer hard work and contribution to the party he helped BJP to win and retain all 5 Constituency of Udupi district.
Contribution To Constant Growth of the Party
Impressed by the contribution of Pramod Madhwaraj, BJP recently included him in the team headed by Prahlad Joshi to tour the State of Karnataka to unite, organise and prepare the Karyakarthas for upcoming Parliamentary Elections.
